KLAS LINDQUIST

The Song Is You

Swedish multiple award-winning alto saxophonist Klas Lindquist debuted in 2008 with Lift Off, which was voted to #3 as OJ's Gyllene Skivan behind Swedish jazz stars Esbjörn Svensson Trio and Peter Asplund. His second You Need It in 2009 focused on clever nine-piece-arrangements of the music of Duke Ellington. Now, for The Song Is You, his third album, Lindquist unleashes complete musical playfulness with his jazz quartet by approaching the American Songbook. In a seasoned, imaginative and relaxed manner, Lindquist and crew deliver a hard-swinging session recorded in a spontaneous everyday home environment by sound maestro John Högman. A musical gem on the album is the song Nilsie, which was written by the legendary vocalist Alice Babs in conjunction with Lindquist.
