To connoisseurs of Swedish jazz, pianist Birgit Lindberg is more or less legendary, being one of few female jazz musicians in the 60s to perform with the Swedish jazz elite, always playing with a cigarette in mouth as her trademark. She is now back after a 40 year hiatus with family commitments and teams up with prolific and prominent jazz guitarist Anders Färdal to form an exciting quartet. Damn That Cat is their fifth studio collaboration together and presents another uplifting mix of jazz standards and originals, here featuring the mesmerizing playing from guest soloist Fredrik Lindborg on four cuts. The hard-swinging rhythm section consists of bassist Martin Sjöstedt and drummer Daniel Fredriksson. This album will entice all lovers of melodic, swinging jazz!
