KLAS TORESSON & FILIP EKESTUBBE TRIO

Where Or When

Klas Toresson counts as one of Sweden's most prolific and expressive jazz saxophonists, with a strong jazz craftsmanship rooted in the tradition of suave 50s tenorists such as Coleman Hawkins and Stan Getz. On Where Or When he heads a spontaneous studio session with young celebrated jazz pianist Filip Ekestubbe, whose Oscar Peterson and Wynton Kelly-esque talents form the basis for his playfully swinging trio, consisting of bassist Niklas Fernqvist and drummer Daniel Fredriksson. As a quartet, these elite jazzmen take turns to serve up top-notch improvisations and tackle a few select offerings of the American Songbook, with a emotion and nerve, as well as a touch of humour. Bill Evans' Show-Type Tune is a fresh addition to this set of melodic and captivating quartet jazz.
